Brand Focus: Edwards Lifesciences

GOAL

After a nationwide search to identify the best consultancy for medical software development, Edwards Lifesciences chose Patton Design. Mr. Patton’s s experience in GUI and complex software architecture/programming was key, ensuring they would have a visionary design leader who could co-create a new cardiopulmonary monitoring system in collaboration with their lead marketing guru, Morgan McKeown.

SUCCESS

After two years of effort, the EV1000 was developed. This device changed how surgeons and nurses viewed patient information. One of the most innovative aspects of the innovation process was representative animations of the heart, lungs, and circulatory system that adjusted themselves given cardiopulmonary patient data, providing more information than just numbers and graphs. It was a great success.

 

REVIEW

Years after the EV1000 was created, Patton Design continues to work with Edwards Lifesciences to co-create predictive analytics that can tell the doctor when a hypertensive event is about to happen, saving lives. This new product, called the Hemosphere, continues to evolve in Edwards Lifesciences’ work with Patton Design.
