In 2017, Patton Design announced a revolutionary GUI design for the Epic Pro™ Diode Laser System, which recently received FDA clearance for its worldwide launch.
After years of research using Doug’s proprietary flowchart logic development system, Patton Design identified an ideal method with which dentists could harness new laser technology from Biolase. The result was an easy-to-use way for dentists and surgeons to gain full control over a personalizable system.
The GUI design for this device uses a color-coded circular menu system with six simple, intuitive categories: Restorative, Soft Tissue, Perio, Implant, Endo, and Customizable Favorites, with unique icons that represent special algorithms for each procedure. With its simple and advanced modes, the former of which uses educational animations, the design accommodates both beginning and advanced users. In addition, the GUI is entirely operated on a removable Samsung tablet, offering offline learning and portability.
Prior to launch, the GUI underwent a great deal of human factor testing with specialists in each category, receiving amazing accolades for ease of use and intuitiveness.
